HiFi Trends to Watch in 2026

Streaming at 24-bit is mainstream, but vinyl resurgence shows no sign of slowing. Here's what's moving the needle.

The State of HiFi in 2026

The HiFi market is in a genuinely interesting moment. Streaming at 24-bit/192kHz has gone from audiophile novelty to a default expectation among serious listeners. Meanwhile, vinyl continues its decade-long resurgence — pressing plants are still backlogged, and entry-level turntable sales keep climbing.

Streaming Dominance

Tidal, Qobuz, and Apple Music Lossless have collectively pulled a large chunk of the dedicated DAC market upward. Consumers who once stopped at a mid-range Bluetooth speaker now find themselves researching streaming DAC/amp combos. This is a genuine upgrade path forming at scale.

Brands that have positioned themselves well in the streaming DAC space — Chord, iFi, Cambridge Audio — are seeing steady momentum on social and in dealer foot traffic.

Vinyl: Still Going

The vinyl resurgence is now old enough that it’s self-sustaining. Kids who grew up watching their parents play records are buying their own tables. Pro-Ject and Rega continue to dominate entry-to-mid, while Clearaudio and VPI hold the high-end territory.

Headphones: The Gateway Drug

Headphones remain the dominant HiFi entry point. The success of Sennheiser’s HD 490 Pro, the continued cult status of the HD 600 series, and Audeze’s planar-magnetic push into consumer pricing have all raised the floor for what buyers expect from a first serious headphone purchase.

Watch: Room Acoustics

Room treatment has quietly become the next frontier. As more listening happens in dedicated spaces, brands like GIK Acoustics are seeing outsized attention. Expect this to grow.
