Accessibility

Last reviewed

We build madcoolstuff.net to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We check it with automated tests (axe-core, WCAG 2.2 AA rules) at desktop and phone widths, contrast and target-size checks, and a keyboard pass.

What the latest review covered

  • Every page in the main navigation, plus one brand page, one dealer page, one news article and the page-not-found page, at 1440px and 390px wide.
  • Colour contrast of text, including text over gradients and the map, measured on the colours the browser actually painted. The pages were checked in the default palette and in the high-contrast mode that the AA button in the header switches on.
  • Target sizes, visible keyboard focus, the skip link to the main content, page headings, link styling, and names for icon-only controls.
  • Motion. The pause button in the header stops the site's looping animations, and they start paused when your device asks for reduced motion.

Known limitations

  • On AI Models, the radar chart that compares cloud models is drawn on a canvas, and its scores have no text equivalent.
  • ColorBlock is played with a mouse or touch. Its board and shape cards cannot be reached with a keyboard.
  • The dealer map shows dealers only as pins on the map, with no list beside it. The pins can be reached with the Tab key and opened with Enter, and each dealer's card links to its own page with the address and contact details.
  • Not part of this review: the Speaker Setup Simulator, a game served from another host; the YouTube player inside the Content Demo; and the other MadCool sites this one links to.
